Summer 2018 The Isabel O’Neil Studio Workshop
Introduction to Bas–Relief

Wednesday & Thursday, June 6 & 7 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
$140.00, plus bench fee
Instructor: Margi Brenizer
Prerequisite: Gilding

Bas-Relief is three-dimensional, or raised, work on a flat surface.
Using clay to raise part of your design motif will add texture and form to it.
The clay is simple to use and can be learned quickly.
A selection of designs will be provided.
A small box with a flat surface will be suitable for the workshop.



  Breche Marble

Monday – Thursday, June 18 – 21 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM
$400.00, plus bench fee
Instructors: Roger Brann, Karen Glanternik
Prerequisite: Marble
Detailed layers of stone formations make breche the most beautiful of marbles.
Learn how to render this elegant finish on a flat surface in this four day workshop.



Decorative Floorcloth

Wednesday, June 27 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
$75.00, plus bench fee
Instructor: Edward Schaefer Open to all
This historic 19th century technique will transform a 21st century room.
The design will be painted on prepared cotton canvas. Your new knowlege
will give you the ability to create placemats, runners or canvas items.
Floor cloth will be supplied: 24” x 36”


Country Graining with Vinegar Paint

Tuesday & Wednesday, July 10 & 11 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
$140.00, plus bench fee
Instructor: Ruth Stein Open to All

Take an ordinary object and transform it into a 19th century treasure.
The materials used for this graining method are vinegar, pigments and
a binder. Many everyday objects will be used to manipulate the paint.




Fractur
Tuesday & Wednesday, July 17 & 18 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
$140.00, plus bench fee
Instructor: Jennifer Cole Open to all
Emulate the Pennsylvania Dutch folk art called Fractur. Executed between 1740
and1860, floral and figurative scenes were created for certificates, book plates and
writing samples. Students will work on watercolor paper to learn the techniques.
The motifs can be painted on a box or mirror frame.
