Courses / Gilding

The student learns techniques of Renaissance master gilders. A frame is leafed with Dutch metal or aluminum and embellished with a design to imitate metal inlay work. A carved piece, chased but the student is gilded with a precious metal and patinated to create the soft gleam of antique gold or silver.

The finest quality materials and implements are used. Various patinas, give the gilded surface further dimension. The results are spectacular, and the gilded object is endowed with an air of w and value.
